History: I've spent over 30 years of my life perfecting my craft as a visual artist. I have been a portrait artist since 2010. The area code of 330 belongs to Akron, it used to be 216. I attended LeBron's high school graduation! I had the whole experience as a high schooler just one grade behind him. I had a first cousin in his class who played basketball with Bron at STVM. The school closings, the Hummer around town, the news and radio broadcasts, The Beacon Journal newspaper front & sports pages, and the announcement of him going into the NBA! It was truly a once in a lifetime feeling you'd have to WITNESS to truly feel the depth of PRIDE I felt, the entire city of Akron really.THEN I worked at UA (The University of Akron, ZIPSVision) with his boys from STVM and would walk past him in the tunnel before games started. He is VERY tall! Mind you, I am 5'10" (tall for a woman). He still towered over me. All of that to say that I decided to finally paint him (never have until now surprisingly) on the 7th anniversary of my grandmother's passing, March 5th, 2019. It felt like she was with me from start to finish. This piece is one of THE most personal to me. Look at him now!! SO Proud. Thank you for reading, admiring, and for all the love. It's all appreciated! 🤙🏽

MILLER SOUTH & BEYOND IN THE ARTS 1997- 2026
Attended the only performing arts school in Akron, Ohio, Miller South School for the Visual & Performing Arts as a Visual Art Interest Area from 1997-2000.
I remember my audition vividly; what I created, who took me, and who has always supported me -- my mother. I attended with my first cousin whose interest area was chorus/vocal performance. We had a lot of fun with exploratory classes (other areas in the arts; dance, theatre, band(s), etc)
In July 2004, right after graduating senior year at Harvey S. Firestone High School on June 1st, 2004 (where NASA's Judy Resnik went), I won the local NAACP Competition in Akron, Ohio for Visual Art. I traveled to Philadephia with that same first cousin, Merissa Coleman, to compete at the National 95th Annual NAACP Convention!
October 2015: I sold my first charcoal portrait to Grammy-Nomininated Music Artist & Producer, Ryan Leslie.
July 2017: I created & launched my own website, and started working as a photographer.
2018+: I started hosting 'Honoring Vets on Veterans Day' mini session events every November.
Summer 2025: I created and started using my own presets to edit my photographs.
March 2023: I was honored at Miller South's 30th Anniversary Celebration for continuing to use my artistic gifts in my community & career.
Spring 2026: I became an art teacher for a kindergarten class and then again for a preschool program. So far I've taught preschool, prek, kindergarten, and 1st grade. I was also verified (finally) on Facebook and Instagram.

LATEST WORK
The artworks of Charlin Janene

1997
This Still Life was setup by my favorite Miller South Art Teacher, Julie Hogarth.
Artist: Charlin Janene
Age: 12
Graduating Class: 2000
Attended: AUG 1997 - JUN 2000 (6th, 7th, and 8th)
Medium: Chalk
Sixth Grade Interest Area
History: Miller South School for the Visual & Performing Arts opened in 1993 and was previously South High School in 1956. Interest Area was why you attended (your gift/talent) and exploratory classes were to teach you about other art forms using a hands on approach. I ended up excelling at steel drum, also explored dance, theatre, and chorus.
